"It's time. It's time. Time for the big giveaway. Halloween has come. All you lucky kids with Silver Shamrock masks, gather 'round your TV set, put on your masks and watch. All witches, all skeletons, all Jack-O-Lanterns, gather 'round and watch. Watch the magic pumpkin. Watch...”
― Silver Shamrock Commercial, Halloween III

A spell has been cast the world is plunged into darkness.

To learn more about how Children of the Fall is played check out our primer episode.

The Tribe:

•An Unnamed group of about two dozen children, a large tribe with the Prophet, Linus, as the leader.

•6 weeks after the fall the tribe is sheltering in a church on a parkway in a southern California urban sprawl.

•They have an abundance of ammunition. There is a dearth of fuel.

•In the short-term a rival tribe has it out for them, the Bike-o-mancers have a beef. In the long-term earthquakes threaten to further weaken their haven.

•The church sits near a shopping plaza with a department store for sundries and further down the way is an overpass that serves as an observation point and place to gather supplies. The crypt beneath the church is a large safe space.

The Mission:

•Search and Rescue.

•Evan wandered off during a patrol the territory and the group wants to find and save him.

The Characters:

•Linus, the Prophet: a 14 year old who claims magical insight. (Ken Breese)

•Jessup, the Stranger: a 14 year old, who claims to know the ways of spellcraft. (John Holt)

•Benson, the Monster: A 12 year old who is cold and dangerous, even without his gun. (Tim Rodriguez)

“In his dream she was sick and he cared for her. The dream bore the look of sacrifice but he thought differently. He did not take care of her and she died alone somewhere in the dark and there is no other dream nor other waking world and there is no other tale to tell.”
― Cormac McCarthyThe Road

A small band of children huddle in a graveyard on the outskirts of a city fallen to ruin.

To learn more about how Children of the Fall is played check out our primer episode.

The Tribe:

•An Unnamed group of about 13 children, a medium sized tribe, with no clear leader.

•Two months after the fall the tribe is holed up in a graveyard outside Indianapolis.

•They have an abundance of shelter, building material and tool. There is a dearth of food.

•In the short-term Tornado season is approaching, it is dangerous even with shelter, and with food in short supply they can't easily just hunker down. In the long-term the larger will supplied rural tribes, further out from the city could swoop in to do the tribe harm.

•The graveyard sits to the east of the city, between the graveyard and the city is a major big-box store. To the immediate east of the graveyard is a river or canal. To the north is a large forested area, and to the south a road that leads from town and out into the countryside.

The Mission:

•A Project to build up a Tornado Shelter & supply it.

•Tornados could strike at any moment so time is of the essence. The tribe will need to complete the project in the next couple of weeks. Smaller storms have already driven the fallen out of the city and added to the danger.

•Lack of food and fuel makes it hard to complete, we have many mouths to feed and our compassion has lead us to bring in children who are too young to help with food gathering and major works.

The Characters:

•Kelvin, the Innocent: a 12 year old who carries around a fish in a baggie.

•Jaques, the Martyr: a 15 year old goth, fascinated by death.

•Penny, the Hunter: A 15 year old tasked with doing the wetwork for the tribe.

Children of the Fall is a GMless game that can be played in a single session or in multiple sessions, with each session playing out in a mission over 4 acts. The tone is a dark apocalypse where the survivors are all children, as the adults have turned into dangerous maniacs and those that age into adulthood will suffer the same fate.

“As the sound of the playgrounds faded, the despair set in. Very odd, what happens in a world without children's voices.”
